در این دوره دانشجویان (بدون نیاز به دارا بودن هیچ دانش ابتدایی در مورد linux و مباحث سیستم تلفنی) سیستم عامل لینوکس را از ابتدا بر روی سیستمهای کامپیوتری نصب کرده و با نصب و تنظیم سیستم تلفنی Asterisk تجربه راهاندازی قابلیتهای اصلی یک مرکز تلفن مبتنی بر IP را تجربه میکنند.
تمامی آموزشها از ابتدا در محیط آزمایشگاهی و بدون هیچ نوع شبیهسازی انجام گرفته و امکانات مورد نیاز برای هر دانشجو (شامل 2 تلفن IP، تلفن آنالوگ، کارتهای تلفنی برای ارتباط با خطوط شهری و ... ) به صورت انفرادی در اختیار آنها قرار گرفته و تمامی مراحل آموزش را دانشجویان به صورت انفرادی اجرا و تجربه خواهند نمود.

• List the functionality associated with a traditional PBX
• Explain the background to Asterisk in terms of the history of Digium and the Open Source community of which it is a part
• Define the operating system environments in which Asterisk is developed and supported
• Describe the telephony connections which Asterisk supports and identify the Digium hardware needed to effect this connectivity
• Identify the basic characteristics of analog connections and how VoIP compares and contrasts with these
• Install and run Asterisk from the packages available for download from www.asterisk.org
• Configure Asterisk to deliver basic PBX functionality including basic call routing, voicemail and directory services
• Learn the basics of Linux in order to be an effective Asterisk administrator
